The Krillian Incident (V1.1)
by John Wilson
Game Synopsis
As the Federation spread out across the known galaxy, outposts were
constructed for scientific research. These outposts are the life blood
for those colonies in the surrounding areas. While the Federation
consists of thousands of worlds, not all races have joined them.
Diplomatic relations are always underway to gap the differences and
maintain peace.
The Federation outposts 16, 17 and 18 are close to the boarder of the
race called the Krill. The Krillian are a proud race that prefers
isolationism. Diplomatic relations have become strained recently.
Certain fractions within their society have sworn to drive out the
Federation from this quadrant by destroying these outposts. The
outposts themselves have limited defense capabilities and can only
hold out from a direct assault for a short time. Your primary
assigmnment will be to defend them against attack. You have also been
authorized to destroy all the renegade ships within this quadrant.
Good luck Captain.

The U.S.S. Chrism - Destroyer Class Star Cruiser
Keyboard Commands
Help Key - Displays help screen as well as pauses the game.
C - Displays any communication messages received. A red light
located on the main panel will indicate if any messages are
waiting.
D - Activates the navigational beacon when your ship is in a sector
occupied by an outpost. You must then navigate your ship, using
this beacon, towards the outpost. When your ship is within range,
the automatic docking system will engage. You must do so within
a certain amount of time, if not docking is aborted. You then
must wait for new docking clearance.
When you have successfully docked with the outpost all your
supplies will be replenished and any damaged systems on your
ship will be repaired if needed. Your ship carries 5000 units
of energy and at least 15 torpedoes (depending on level chosen).
When docking manuevers are complete, your ship will be ready
to depart (D) from the outpost.
H - The head's up display will report your primary systems functional
status.
L - Performs a long range scan for the current Sector Map cursor
location. The computer will indentify the type of enemy ship
as well as the number of ships within the squadron. The Krillian
renegades have two types of ships. A smaller, more manuverable,
Scout class ship and a heavily armored Destroyer class.
If an outpost is within the sector, it will report the shield
strength and status.
S - Activates shields. Running without shields will leave your ship
highly vulnerable to destruction. The shields will consume a
small amount of energy when activated. They will deflect the
disrupter fire from attackers but in doing so they will drain
your ship's energy supply. The Krillain also have limited plasma
torpedoes. Even though the shields can defend against them, it
is highly advisable to avoid such torpedo hits. System damage
can occur do to overloads.
The shields may be weakened from extended attacks. When the
shields are low your ship is more vulnerable to damage. Damage
Control parties will try and maintain your ship's vital systems.
Docking at an outpost will repair any damaged systems quickly.
W - Warp Drive activation to the current Sector Map cursor position.
Your ship can use hyperspace to jump distances between sectors.
This speed can only be sustained for short durations and consumes
large amounts of energy. The calculated consumtion of energy
needed for a jump is displayed on the top right of your screen.
If the Warp drive sustains damaged, the overall distance capable
with each jump will be reduced.
Esc - Restarts the game.
Arrow - Move the Sector Map cursor.
Keys
F - Flips the Dive/Climb mouse control for vertical movement.
Mouse Control
Left - Turn the ship to the left.
Right - Turn the ship to the right.
Up - Dive (default)
Down - Climb (default)
Left Button - Phasers. The tactical computer displays the energy level
remaining for each enemy ship in the current sector. The
effectiveness of your phasers are reduced if they sustain
any damage.
Right Button - Torpedo. You carry a limited number of plasma torpedoes.
This weapon is capable of penetrating the Krillian shields.
It is also capable of detonating incomming plasma torpedoes,
reducing the amount of energy left to absorb by your shields.
Screen Layout
Please refer to the included IFF file for details on the game screen.
Game Over
The game is over when:

2) All the Outposts have been destroyed.

You will receive a score at the end of the game based on the skill
level chosen and your overall performace.
Clutching For Life (Author Unknown) - I borrowed this great music MOD.

to your new path.
Final Thoughts
This is my first game written using AMOS 3D. I hope you have as much fun
playing the game as I had in writing it. I am releasing this game as
Freeware. Please pass this around.
If I receive even a small response, I will continue to improve this game
and update it. There is also plans for a sequel, possible a modem playable
version (as soon as Voodoo Software fixes a bug in AMOS 3D.
So send in those comments and suggestions.

suggestions I received. The latest version of Krillian Incident will
always be available on the Suburban Computer Connection BBS (313)-427-0223.
Look for my other games:
High Seas - A batleship clone playable against the computer or over the
modem with another player.
Tel-thello - A reversi game playable over the modem, two-person, or against
